This past weekend our office traveled to Chicago for a regional conference, dedicated to learning more about our company and networking with successful individuals. While we learned much while at the conference, we would like to share a few key lessons that were taken home.
1. Never be afraid to step outside your comfort zone. While it is well known that this can be a step into the unknown, it also usually presents us with the best opportunities. Our office heard from several speakers who spoke on their initial nervousness to enter the field of marketing and sales. They explained that getting past it was an important step towards their success, because they realized that in doing so, they were able to expand their creative skills, as well as their communication skills.
2.This increase in communication led to the lesson that we should work towards being able to listen and understand everyone we come across. In doing so we are able to hear and learn about many different culture, opinions, and ways of seeing the world and how it works. Having the knowledge, has led many successful people in our office to grow their team.
3.The final takeaway from the regional conference, was what our Director, Alex Tabar, presented. He explained that we should always look to build excitement in our everyday work lives. Doing the same thing well everyday will bring you success, but doing the same this well everyday while being excited about what you do will bring happiness to both you and those who surround you.
While in Chicago, our office had a chance to put these skills to the test, by holding a bake sale for charity. By stepping out of our comfort zone to bake chocolate chip cookies, and communicating to everyone at the conference about our goal to help those in need by donating the profits we had a chance to meet many people. Just as we learned many skills for success at our regional conference, we encourage you to utilize these key lessons and work towards your own success.
