This past weekend, members of our office attended our 2017 Northeast Leaders Conference held in New York City. Our teams competed to determine which of them would get the chance to attend. In the end, three of our corporate trainers, Spencer, Kristian, and Paul, along with director Alex, left Friday for the three-day combination of meetings and networking events.
The annual Northeast Leaders Conference is an opportunity to top leaders from across the nation to learn from the owners of various marketing firms. As many of these leaders have a goal of one day opening their own marketing firm, hearing from these owners is a chance to hear about the realities of being an entrepreneur. Paul, Kristian, and Spencer each sat down with owners from New York, Michigan, and Florida to learn about what is was like to open a marketing firm in an unfamiliar marketing. From each of these conversations, our leaders gained the best advice on being a marketing entrepreneur and what they need to accomplish before achieving that dream.
In addition, our own director, Alex, was given the opportunity to speak to the entire conference about team recruiting and how to provide an opportunity to each individual team member. Alex discussed having a positive attitude in the office every day, and the difference it has on prospective candidates. He also discussed different interviewing techniques that he has found effective. While our office already follows Alex’s best advice, it was interesting for our leaders to hear how effective it can be when combined with other pieces of advice, such as setting weekly goals for your team, and team members at the beginning of every week, and checking in on those same goals at the end of the week.
While our leaders also had a chance to do some sightseeing in The Big Apple, we know they were most excited about what they learned and how they can implement it, now that they are back in Columbus. We hope you also have opportunities to learn about how to achieve your own dreams!
