This past week, member of our office traveled to Orlando, Florida for a conference in management and training skills. Throughout the week, they attended meetings and panel discussions with directors and assistant directors from across the nation. In addition to learning many new skills, our office members also had a chance to network and do some sightseeing.
One theme throughout the conference was the power of networking. While we already stress networking in our office, the conference enhanced our understanding of how influential networking can be in your success. For example, newly promoted assistant director Jacob had the opportunity to sit down with several directors who recently founded their own marketing firms. Through these sit downs Jacob learned about many problems that can plague new entrepreneurs if they are not prepared. As one of Jacob’s long term goals is to eventually own his own firm, while growing his current music label, knowing about these potential problems will help him to prepare for them in advance when he eventually reaches those long-term goals. Jacob also walked away with contact information for these directors, if he had any questions or needed any advice in the future. Thanks to the power of networking, Jacob is that much closer to succeeding in both his short and long-term goals.
The second major theme of the conference was on utilizing brand awareness to appeal to a target demographic. Our team members heard from many speakers on how to build a brand that conveys a target message. Brands can convey messages of corporate responsibility, growth, and adventure to name a few. Accurately conveying these messages or themes, creates an appeal to audiences. The speakers emphasized creating your brand’s messages based on your target demographic. Thus, you are making your audience aware of a brand that you can be sure appeals to them. Too often brands do the opposite and expect their target audience to find them. Our team members gained a better understanding of this idea, and are already implementing it into our office for our clients.
Outside of learning, our team members did have the opportunity to do some sightseeing on their trip. The biggest highlight was being able to swim with dolphins. Our team members visited a dolphin sanctuary where workers rehabilitate dolphins who are no longer able to survive in the wild. Swimming with these animals proved to be an incredible experience.
Just as our office members are teaching us what they learned, take these pieces of advice and implement them into your life. Whether it be your personal or professional brand, makes sure you are understanding the needs of your audience, and grow that brand through networking.
